Transportation
ARC Gateway’s clients are provided with transportation from their homes to their day programs.Transportation may also be provided to adults attending day programs with other providers. The availability of these seats are limited. Please call 698-6438 for more information or e-mail transportation@arc-gateway.org.

Advocacy

ARC Gateway hosts and helps to facilitate We Have Rights, a group of local self-advocates who believe people with disabilities should be able to make their own choices about the way they live, learn and work in the community.
Some of the group goals include improving transportation and protecting the rights of people with disabilities.
The group meets the third Thursday of each month at the Pollak Training Center on the corner of Fairfield Drive and Tenth Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Mission
• Educate people with disabilities in all areas of independence
• Assist group participants to advocate for their rights as citizens
• Give club members an avenue to voice their ideas, concerns and opinions
• Provide an environment that encourages support of all individuals
• Assist clients in obtaining updated information about education opportunities,
community leaders, service providers, etc.
• Encourage all consumers to take an active role in the community
Recreation
The recreation committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the ARC Gateway Community Based Employment Building at 3913 North 10th Ave. Participants schedule, organize and promote low-cost activities, such as dances, movies and bingo. New members are welcome and encouraged to come to a meeting!
Aktion Club

Aktion Club is a community-service group for adults with disabilities that is sponsored by local Kiwanis chapters. The Aktion Club invites guests and speakers to come to each club meeting. In past meetings, participants have handled exotic animals, created work with local artists and danced.
The Aktion Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. in the Piccadilly Cafeteria in the Town and Country Plaza.
